At the OCRF, we are committed to open and transparent governance to ensure we are meeting our mission in line with our community’s and partners’ expectations. The OCRF is governed by a Committee of Management supported by four expert subcommittees. We are grateful to all our contributing members on each committee, who give of their time freely and passionately in the hope of bringing forward a future where every woman, everywhere, is free from the threat of ovarian cancer.
Ms Julie Toop
Chairperson and Ex-Officio Member of all Advisory Committees
Julie has worked for ANZ since 2006 in a variety of legal and business roles. In 2012 she left law and embarked on a new career in banking, facilitated by her selection for the 18 month ANZ Accelerating Banking Experiences for Women Program. On completion of the program Julie was appointed as the Head of Health in Business Banking, and set up a specialist banking team to service the business and personal banking needs of Medical Practitioners. In 2018 Julie moved into the Retail area of ANZ and is currently the lead for Emerging Channels.
Prior to joining ANZ, Julie was a Special Counsel at Allens Linklaters. She has worked across various areas of law throughout her career, and whilst at Allens Linklaters she specialised in property, estate planning, probate, succession, trusts, and the provision of general commercial advice to not for profit and charitable organisations. Julie is also a Notary Public, and a director of the Australian Sonographers Association Ltd.
Mr Nathan Preyser
Treasurer and Finance Risk & Audit Committee Chairperson
Nathan has been newly welcomed onto the Committee of Management and brings a wealth of knowledge in finance, leadership and stakeholder management to the OCRF. Across a career spanning 30 years, Nathan has held several key senior commercial, financial and operational roles within brands of major Australian ASX retail organisations. For the past 14 years, Nathan has delivered proven results in business within different sectors as CFO, COO, Group Business Manager, Business Management and Project Consultant. A common theme across all of these appointments is Nathan’s ability to recognise commercial opportunities and deliver immediate productivity and performance improvements whilst planning longer term strategies. He has demonstrated management of stakeholder expectations at a commercial and financial level and tailored appropriate reporting to diverse and specific audiences. The OCRF is very much looking forward to working with Nathan in his new capacity as Treasurer of the Committee of Management.
Dr Geraldine Goss
Secretary and Scientific Advisory Committee Member
Geraldine graduated from the university of Melbourne in 1987. She undertook postgraduate training in oncology at the Royal Melbourne and Repatriation Hospitals, after which she undertook laboratory-based research as a Breast Cancer Fellow. She completed her MD thesis then travelled to Boston, USA where she completed fellowships at St Elizabeth’s Medical Centre and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Here she developed her interest in gynaecological cancers. Following her return to Australia in 2000, she completed a Masters degree in Women’s Health at the University of Melbourne. She now works as a medical oncologist with a focus on caring for women with breast and gynaecological cancers.
Dr L. Jane McNeilage
Scientific Advisory Committee Chairperson
Dr Jane McNeilage, from January 2001-January 2004, held the position of the first National Australia Bank Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation Research Fellow at the PHI of Medical Research. She currently works in private practice as a Gynaecological Oncologist and holds the position of VMO, Gynaecology Oncology, Monash Medical Centre. Jane is an author/co-author of over 50 articles in magazines, journals, etc from 1979 to date. She has received several awards throughout her career, the latest ones being the Australian Society of Gynaecologic Oncologists – Keith Free Memorial Prize for Young Investigator Presentation in 2002 and 2003 and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Brown Craig Travelling Fellowship in 2004.
Ms Sharon McCrohan
Marketing & Fundraising Advisory Committee Chairperson
Sharon McCrohan is one of Australia’s most experienced media and strategic communications consultants, with a career spanning over 20 years as a journalist and adviser to Federal and State government leaders and cabinets, private sector boards, sporting bodies, statutory authorities, charities, and government agencies.
As the mum of two girls, Sharon has a strong personal commitment to the defining mission of the OCRF, which will see the development of an early detection test saving thousands of lives.
Ms Anne-Marie Corboy
Consumer Representative Panel Chairperson and Marketing & Fundraising Advisory Committee Member
Anne-Marie has extensive experience in strategic planning, corporate governance, financial management, stakeholder management and the ability to manage growth in a competitive environment. She is currently a Non-Executive Director of Bank Australia and a Member of the Australian Commonwealth Games Foundation Investment Committee. Anne-Marie has over 30 years experience as a Company Director for a range of organisations including the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Mothers Day Classic Foundation, Utilities of Australia, Netball Australia (Chair), Australian Council for Superannuation Investors, Northern Health (Chair), Kangan Batman Institute (Chair), Victorian Superannuation Board, and was a trustee on the MCG Trust for 9 years.
Anne-Marie was CEO of HESTA, the industry superannuation fund for health and community services, and Company Secretary to its trustee company HEST Australia Ltd from May 1998 to February 2015. Prior to this role she was Victorian Branch Secretary of the Australian Education Union and a primary teacher.
Mr Tony Pyman
Tony Pyman has a Bachelor of Laws degree (with honours) and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University of Melbourne. He was a partner in the legal firm Allens for more than 33 years and was a part time Corporate Counsel of Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute from September 2011 to April 2014. Over the years, Tony’s legal practice encompassed a wide range of areas including general commercial advice, drafting of contracts, corporate finance transactions, company floats, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate reconstructions, research and development syndications, research and development collaborations, clinical trials and commercialisation of technology.
Ms Sarah Saunders
Marketing & Fundraising Advisory Committee Member
Sarah is a strategic marketing specialist with over fifteen years of experience gained in the health and NFP sectors. Sarah's areas of expertise include: strategy development, leadership, brand management, behaviour change campaigns, research and evaluation and partner engagement. She has a passion for using marketing strategies to address social problems and achieve impact. Sarah is currently Brand and Strategy Manager at VicHealth.
Throughout her career Sarah has worked on marketing initiatives for a range of high profile organisations including: The Cancer Council Victoria, CARE Australia, WHO, PneumoADIP and Department of Health (UK). Sarah holds a Bachelor of Arts (Public Relations) and a Master of Public Health.
Sarah is currently completing the Observership Program and joins the Committee of Management in that capacity.
